BATTERY TESTING
- Connnect red lead to V, HZ, RPM etc.
- Connect black lead to COM.
- Select - V DC/AC and make sure you are reading DC.
- Press Max Min once.
- Attach the cables to the positive and negative on the battery.
- Start the car for a couple of seconds.
- On the multimeter, the display will show the highest battery voltage.
- Press Max Min again and it will show you another figure.
- Press Max Min again to show another figure.
- The highest figure will be the highest voltage of the battery.
- The lowest figure will be lowest voltage of the battery.
- The other figure will be the current voltage of the battery.
- The highest voltage should be 13.6V or higher. Also this shows the alternator is working. The lowest voltage should be 9.6V or higher. Under 9.6V, your battery is on its way out. The normal battery voltage should be 12.6V or higher.
